Is google making us dumber?

I use google a lot, and still have to study on a traditional way.

Its like saying that running machines are making people stop going out to jog, of course there are people who use them a lot, but it's still impossible to forget to go out and run like all the rest.

The same happens with google, of course many people use it a lot, because it helps a great deal when unable to understand something or when you want to find more information, but it wil hardly ever replace regular studying.

Furthermore, I also think that it wouldn't be such a problem if we start to forget some information due to the facilities internet gives us, due to the fact of an each day growing globalisation, and the easier access to internet hotspots.

Indian reservatations

1.- Most of the firsts of  Indian reservations where founded between 1830 an 1887, after several attempts of several former presidents of the united states, and to the efforts of the office of Indian affairs, now called the bureau of Indian affairs, most of them are west of the Mississippi river.

2.- They are legally a "separate" sovereign land, so they are able to have their own laws, wich might differ at some points with the laws outside the reservation, as they can have casinos inside, but not outside the reservations, yet still cant kill a man inside it... damnit.

3.- Because many of the reservations where established in places that had nothing to do with the tribes they where given to, due to many times unfair relocations made by white men, like the mass migration to Oklahoma, wich lead the trail of tears, there are also more difficulties tan benefits about living inside them, for everything outside the reservation is far away, and the are unlikely to get all of the basic resources, and not every tribe has its own reservation.

4.- Not in my opinion, they are just set and planned to ridicule the people inside them.

Creative writing task

Dear Rahim Khan,

I know it is the first time I write to you in two whole years, maybe more, and that even when I worked at Amir agha's home we did not have a very close relationship, but I think it is time to tell someone the truth, and I truly believe you are the right one to write to.

First of all, you must be asking yourself how am I writing this to you though if I was never taught how to read or write, the truth is I am forced to pay to a stranger here in Pakistan yo write whatever I tell him, so please pay attention, for I probably wont be able to write to you again. If you where to ask, I think I wouldn't be able to tell you when it all started, or how or why did it got even worse than it was at the beginning , it maybe was just a matter of being born a Hazara, maybe it was just the way Amir despised me afterwards, I dont know, maybe it was a bit or a lot of both, all I know is that it all took place in a cold winter afternoon.

Amir had ben talking about it for days, he was so excited he could barely sleep, we spent several days preparing the thread for the competition. He had been in the sky for hours since the start of the competition when he finally realized he was one of the two finalists, and lots of children had lost to their neighbors, and most of the people in kabul had already lost their interest in the competition as everyone was getting sleepy after lunch, but all of that was just on the "adult word",  because evey kid in kabul was watching the end of the competition, it took Amir a a real hard time to take down the blue kite, but when he did, it fell down just as gracefully as any other. So I ran towards it just like if it was any other kite.

I never had to fight for a kite before that day, because no one ever followed me while kite running, due to the rumor that said I just followed the kite's shadow, once I got my hands on in, as I always did, I realized way to late that assef and his friends where chasing me over the blue kite, the most important of all kite. I dont know how, but they got me inside an alley and told me to give it to them, and I didn't. I am still not sure if Amir watched everything, or if he trully just found me right afterwards, but I think that beyond that, whatever th truth is, he wasn't able to understand what had happened to me.

First, they punched me to the ground, and then, when both of Assef's friends grabbed my arms so he could do it just like he wanted to, Assef raped me, all I know is that even though I brought him his blue kite he didn't wanted me either as a friend or as a servant any more, that is why he hid his own watch under my bed, and that is why I lied as well, by saying that I had stole it

I hope to recieve a response form you soon, even though I probably wont be able to respond
Hassan

rationale

The novel is about the life, or lets rather say, the most significant parts of the life of Amir, a character pretty much based on Khaled Hosseini's own life as an Afghan kid before and after the Communist invasion with all of his adventures, and much more important all of his misfortunes, and the way he had to deal with them along his life.

Amir is a Pashtun, a sort of "raze" inside the mid-western culture, but most importantly, the one that rules over the "Hazara" another raze considered inferior by them, rised to serve the Pashtuns. While his best friend, rised as his brother, is a Hazara, this meaning to be his servant, Hassan. Who was even fed by the same breasts Amir was. My task will be about Hassan writing a letter to Rahim Khan, a most deared family friend who, while everyone had fled to america or countries close to Afghanistan thanks to the russian invasion, decided to keep his friend's house safe until they could come back.

My aim, or goal, I want to achieve by creating this task is to go deeper into a relationship that it is not clearly developed in the book, but that still, has a lot of literary potential due to the personalities these two characters posses.

I wanted to write a letter because it was the text type that better allowed me to make a dialogue-like text, and because it was the easiest way to make a character tell a story to another

IVF Dialogue

Eager: It is fare and appropriate for parents to select the gender of their child, specially in cases when family balancing has an important role, like for example families with three or four children of th same gender, wich is not only unhealthy for the parents, but also a poor example for the children about what the world is really about.

Reluctant: But it is inappropriate to have IVF for sex selection, because it is an unnatural way to make a child, it would be like buying something, it feels wrong. If somebody wants to have a child and know the sex, perfect, go to an orphanage where abandonned kids have no parents and adopt one

Eager: And why is it unnatural when I decide the gender of my child? when everybody else eats and drinks genetically modified food? why is it so inappropriate when even you also do it? what if I want a child with my own blood?

Reluctant: It is unnatural because you would build a life, it is highly unethical to manipulate a life, it's true, most of food we eat has been genetically modified, but the food, is it good for our health? some of this kind of food is very dangerous, producing cancers. If you want a child with your own blood, you can have sex with your partner and have one

What is it to be a New Zealander? I've actually gave a lot of thought into this question, so I didn't had to force myself into an answer, but after all of this time, I finally think I've got it.

To be a New Zealander means to wake up at 7 o'clock during the week to go to work, and at 6 o'clock on the weekends to go running or just for a walk downtown, it is to breakfast the same thing everyday and be able to love it, I think it's in the "simplicity" of a regular kiwi life, with less pressure, just letting things be in a society that forces you to "let things be", and this applies for almost everything, starting by children witch you need to leave home alone once they get back from school for at least 4 hours, on witch they might easily go out to take drugs and alcohol with irresponsible adults and motorcycle gangs, to be a new zealander, to be a kiwi, means you have to trust, and the beautiful thing of it is. That you can

Blog entry: B

The first, and most noticeable difference is the almost complete lack of  TV's, I think this represents the way not only the country, but the difference in the way people thinks, and the global point of view they have, they don't waste their time inside the living room watching an empty brain destroying machine, they go out and do something.
but this difference is settled by something else, something bigger than just them being better or more evolved than us, an apparent fact that I deny to accept, it is a thing of the way they rise their children, the most significant difference is in the schools, on wich, all school days end not only at the same hour, but at 3:30 in the afternoon, this is a MAJOR difference in comparison with our school sistem on wich we have to stay at school at least up to 4:05 PM, some days even up to 5:30 PM, two hours later than them, What is the difference? first of all, independence, I really doubt there could be any 30 year old man still leaving with his parents after all of the time he spent home alone during his childhood, and second, and most importantly all of the things you can do in that time, on wich you can not only do the yons of homework they send home, but you can also do... well, basically anything you want, for example my own host-brother had a jogging and a high-speed bycicle club, with that much time, virtually anything is possible.

News "speech" draft

Good morning studio, just a couple of hours ago, two specially strange drug dealers were caught, two colombian marine armed forces were caught with around 254 pounds of high quality cocaine, the drug was going to be transported on "Sebastian Elcano" school vessel, on witch the two privates would be sailing with destination no new york, and several other cities in canada, with the very pourpose of enhancing the relationships with this two nations.

The vessel, who's journey began at Cartagena De Indias port, didn't showed out it's precious cargo until it founded at bueu, pontevedra, right after a training exercise, Alvaro Uribe, president of colombia, said he would rather watch the ship to rot on port, than to continue demolishing the country's reputation.

Thank you very much, this was Gaspar Martine directly from colombia

letter to a friend assignment

Dear Deer,

How have you been pal? I hope better than I am, just a couple of weeks ago, I was piloting a plain that  said "mahoma stinks" on its beneath, it wasn't quite a good idea to do it over a middle-east war zone cus' they took my plain down .

After the crash I was untouched, but within 10 steps I activated a landmine that blew my whole legs, after that, I was found by an Iraqi platoon that, thinking I was american, pretended to charge rescue money, because americans pay for that, when they figured out I was not american they just left me alone, in time I got to be friend to a guy called "hussein" or something like that, apparently, he is the chief, and decided to treat my wounds.

As I had no internal organ damage, they finished some stitches, put bandages on me, and even got me  wheel chair until my wooden legs are ready.

Anyway, it doesn't look like I'm returning home any soon, so try not to miss me so much.

opinion essay

On this essay I will be sharing my personal opinion about the global warming, is it the greatest issue nowadays? is it caused by human action, or is it just a normal earth cycle? if it is caused by humans, how can we stop it? if it isn't, does it mean it is good for earth? All of these questions and more will be answered in my own point of view, and based on different researche I did weeks ago.

Many different webpages and scientists differ when it gets to decide if it is caused or not by human beings, but one thing appears to be certain, it is the most serious issue humanity is facing these days, threatening environments, melting ice capes and rising sea temperature and height, it is also the biggest killer of endangered species due to the destruction of their habitats, such as several species of polar bears, penguins and cold water dolphins. So to the first question, the answer is yes, global warming is the biggest environmental issue today.

A big question in the mind of a good number of people is if global warming is actually caused by humans, because since Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of greenpeace said there was nothing to worry about, everyone believed to him. The doctor said that when life originated, the amount of CO2 was about a hundred times larger, yet, didn't mentioned anything about the amounts of oxygen, due it is the unbalance between these two gases that creates the greenhouse effect, didn't talked either of quantities of methane gas present in the current atmosphere, the truth is, over my own point of view, a fault of the human being, not only for our industries, but for our own lifestyle, or can any of us imagine a world without cars, air conditioners, fridges, or even meat? Considering livestock is the biggest producers of methane gas, liberated by bacteria in their stomachs while digesting grass or leaves.
No matter how big our efforts are while trying to blame something else, we have the heaviest responsibility when  it comes to global warming.

There is also the belief in some people, and even in several serious scientists, that globlal warming is caused by the sun storms, this is completely irrational, because the solar activity and the global warming have been going in opposite directions since the last 30 years, another common-said is that global warming is actually good, making death of crops by frostbytes each time more rare, and welcoming longer seasons of summer and spring, witch would allow to produce more than one generation at once, this, is also just a big fallacy, the worst cure against hunger is heat, I believe I don't have to explain the consequences of the drought.

So, on and on examples add, because antartica is not gaining ice, the temperature is not cooling, animals and plants cannot adapt to these conditions changing so fast and it has only been rising temperature since 1998, and as long as this myths continue to un-inform us we will only continue to destroy our planet, unless we start doing all of those silly things we are always told to do to help the environment but we never do, such as, not having too many electronic devices plugged, do not use too much water, to use our cars as little as posible, and not to use "sprays" of any kind, such as deodorants, humidifiers or so many others, as they damage the ozone layer

Well, I do believe that that's enough to state a clear opinion, so, I do believe that global warming is the most serious environmental issue of our time, but I also still have faith that we can turn this to the other way if we could just seriously commit to it.

Source 1:

http://webecoist.momtastic.com/2008/08/18/most-important-environmental-issues-of-today/

This page lists the top en environmental issues nowadays

1. Climate Change

Global warming has been concerning scientists for decades, but Al Gore legitimized the crisis with his controversial film An inconvenient truth. From the melting polar ice caps to catastrophic weather and threatened ecosystems, not only is climate change real, scientists agree that humans are influencing climate change with our production of greenhouse gases (mainly stemming from carbon dioxide and methane). What can you do? How bad is it? Why do so many people still think climate change isn’t real? Is it real? These are just some of the issues worth exploring. The good news is that despite the urgency of the crisis, there are exciting technological developments as well as meaningful lifestyle changes you can make to help.
On the list, global warming is the most relevant issue, which is closely followed by energy, waste, water, and food. Classifying it as the most relevante issue

This page lists 176 myths about the climate change debunked, which of course, Uwont just copy and paste it, but here are some of them

Climate MythvsWhat the Science Says
1"Climate's changed before"Climate reacts to whatever forces it to change at the time; humans are now the dominant forcing.
2"It's the sun"
In the last 35 years of global warming, sun and climatehave been going in opposite directions
3"It's not bad"Negative impacts of global warming on agriculture, health & environment far outweigh any positives.
4"There is no consensus"97% of climate experts agree humans are causing global warming.
5"It's cooling"The last decade 2000-2009 was the hottest on record.
6"Models are unreliable"Models successfully reproduce temperatures since 1900 globally, by land, in the air and the ocean.
7"Temp record is unreliable"The warming trend is the same in rural and urban areas, measured by thermometers and satellites.
8"Animals and plants can adapt"Global warming will cause mass extinctions of species that cannot adapt on short time scales.
9"It hasn't warmed since 1998"For global records, 2010 is the hottest year on record, tied with 2005.
10"Antarctica is gaining ice"Satellites measure Antarctica losing land ice at an accelerating rate.

All of the other myths are also explained

This page has the opinions os various heavyweights about the global warming issue, but all of them denying it to be caused by human intervention, i'll put some of their ideas here.

Dr. Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace:

“There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years,” arguing that “perhaps the simplest way to expose the fallacy of extreme certainty is to look at the historical record.”

“When modern life evolved over 500 million years ago, CO2 was more than 10 times higher than today, yet life flourished at this time. Then an ice age occurred 450 million years ago when carbon dioxide was 10 times higher than today.”
James Lovelock, a highly respected scientist, predicted in 2006 that: “Before this century is over billions of us will die and the few breeding pairs of people that survive will be in the Arctic where climate remains tolerable.”
however, he admitted to MSNBC: “We don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books . . . mine included . . . because it looked clear cut . . . but it hasn’t happened.”
This commentaries not only say it is not human fault, but, that it is a natural process, that will benefit the entire planet, for which, its not even considered an issue.

letter of protest

9 june 2014

Dear mayor, Virginia Reginnato

I'd like to demonstrate my concern about the university scholarship cancelations even though I know there is a whole economic crisis going on, ands that the state can't afford paying all of those scholarships, but thats the exact same reason why these scholarships are needed more than ever right now.

I am mostly worried about the most humble people, mid class, even though it'll be seriously affected; won't be as affected as this one, due to the fact they can just get a half.sponsored scholarship with their own university and would have no much trouble paying, but there is people that can't even afford that, and it is for those people why these scholarships are needed.

The consciences of this will be devastating, specially in more complex/lucrative/important jobs matter, as engineering, or medicine; as many possible great professionals will have to choose a cheaper carrier.

What you don't seem to realise yetis that this will create an even bigger economic crisis, due to the lack of efficient professionals people will have ti contract them twice or more (in case of doctors) or two or more of them (in case of, for example, engineers), making people to use/waste more of they money this, plus the increase of unemployment, will transform into the perfect storm.

217 words

protest against scholarship cancellations

As you may know by now, all of the university scholarships sponsored by the state will over 2015. Which is is of course unacceptable, I want to organise a protest in front of "la moneda" palace so that everyone in there notices our disagree, this protest will take place 12 of july at 10 AM. i'd also like to remind you how important this is for lower socioeconomic classes  and less well-off people in general, due due that this is the only way for them to study without selling their souls to a bank

Trinity task correction #2 (not finished)

10/10/13

Today has actually been a pretty good day, I found a $5000 bill, and a $2000 bill inside a pocket of a jacket, it was amazing, I was looking for my keys but I found money instead! all I wanted to do was to save it, but as I was going out, I decided that it could help me if I needed it.
